Add KnowledgeBase search tools to your organization's Web site
Many organizations such as government agencies, non-government organizations, and academic institutions carry out activities related to the Gulf of Maine. Providing easy access to scientific and management-related information can enhance operations and advance their missions. The KnowledgeBase (KB) is designed as a shared, non-proprietary resource that makes it simple for such organizations to provide this access.
- Add a KnowledgeBase search box to your Web site.
Let visitors to your Web site type keywords into a search box and get search results from the KnowledgeBase. The results can be displayed on your site's pages (with its look and feel) or on the KnowledgeBase site.
- Add your organization's publications to the KnowledgeBase.
Want to share your organization's publications with the world via the Web? Add them to the KnowledgeBase. They will be available online quickly at no cost, and you can direct people to your publications online in the KnowledgeBase (see next two bullets).
- Add focused links to specific KnowledgeBase search results.
For example, if your organization's programs focus on salmon, your Web site could have a link to salmon search results, automatically displaying newly added or updated records. The same can be done for other keywords related to your organization's work, for specific geographic areas in the Gulf of Maine region, or for publications produced by your organization (see previous bullet).
- Link to specific records in the KnowledgeBase.
Did you find an article, report, or fact sheet in the KnowledgeBase that would be especially useful for people involved with your organization? Or is one of your organization's publications listed in the KnowledgeBase? Link directly to it. Like this: Benthic invertebrates as water quality indicators in the Penobscot River, Maine
- Link your Web site to the KnowledgeBase home page.
Your organization's Web site can link to http://references.pearl.maine.edu/kb to offer general access to the KnowledgeBase.
